An easy to read/understand

An easy to read/understand, and straight to the point description of medications used in the treatment of individuals with mental illness; a brief text with the essentials of practical psychopharmacology. Perfect for non-prescribing health and mental health students or professionals, I use it as an adjunct text for teaching graduate mental health students. The authors keep new editions coming, with any updates worth announcing.

Absolutely indispensable for anyone involved with prescribing psych meds!

I'm doing a psychiatry elective rotation towards getting my MD right now.
Like most psychiatry offices today, the focus is a lot on prescribing the right meds.
I brought this book into work the day after I received it in the mail and showed it to the PA's, MDs', nurse practitioners, psychologists etc, and they were all in love with it instantly (as was I).

No other guide sums up the important need-to-knows and essential bullet points for meds like this book. Not only that, but at a price that even a starving student can afford.
Also it is cutting edge and extremely up to date with the newest information (we saw one particular antidepressant in the book that we didn't recognize and the next day a pharm rep came buy to to announce the exact same new drug was becoming available!).

Needless to say, all the clinicians in my practice went ahead and bought copies of the book for themselves and it has definitely changed some of the staff's prescribing habits.

Very highly recommend!!

The editors are engaged in a constant process of revision and improvement of the translations and commentaries always making it relevant with the latest developments in biblical scholarship and with the real situations of the people. There have been more than one hundred fifty editions in different languages of the Christian Community Bible and many millions of copies distributed which have helped the faithful in many local churches to understand and assimilate better the Word of God.

Excelent Volume

I have this volume, and love it, as the larger print in the biblical text represents those passages that are read in the Catholic Liturgy (Mass). Just flipping through this awesome Bible, you can see that Catholics receive teaching on nearly the complete in the post Vatican II's 3 year cycle of readings. I love the study notes, as they are copious and cover 99.9% of the biblical text... The best thing about it is the price is down to earth, and not sky high as with many copies of the Scriptures... The 1st portion is an excellent introduction with many helps that you don't normally find in a Catholic Bible such as an 'index to the Bible, a Chronology of the Gospels, a listing of 'Catholic Teachings and where to find them in the Bible. Just an excellent resource for the Bible Student/Professor... to have in their library...

I was a little disappointed but.

Thank you for prompt shipping. I find the 9 pt. print smaller than I imagined......and I used to set type! I did NOT find the book heavy! I expected a larger book. Naturally I haven't read the whole thing yet......so I cannot comment on the scholarly content. I was a little disappointed but...I guess the get what you pay for and the price was VERY LOW so....since it is NEW....I received a fair value for the money. You get what you pay for! It's pretty but not very large.....Not large enough for an expensive book end! Although dimensions are as advertised. I'll live with it. I am glad now that I ordered a companion study bible to go with it. ( from Amazon). Hope I like it better than this one. It is pretty.

IMPORTANT: If you own the cookbook, you won't need this book!

I ordered this as a download for 59.99 at another site because something at Amazon.com kept pushing back the shipping date. I'm out a nonrefundable 59.99 BECAUSE this book has the EXACT same information as the COOKBOOK! There is an added section on history. Her blog has all the same information about testing--this was DEFINITELY not worth the $60!

Stephanie Kenrose has very helpful information, and she's helped me GREATLY! But her sourcebook is not definitive, and her cookbook is far more relevant and useful to a hypoglycemics needs.

It begs the question why the book is not "viewable" before purchase. Very disappointed.

The Reactive Hypoglycemia Sourcebook, 2nd Edition

This book starts with a really well written, engaging, story of the author's journey to discovering she had reactive hypoglycemia. During the rest of the book, the reader learns that in fact the disease had been basically ignored until the early '80's and finds a list of common misdiagnoses such as menopause.

This book follows a logical order and tells the reader everything they need to know about the disease and it's history including what early tests were done, causes, and the link between hypoglycemia and prediabetes which is on the rise in this country.

I intend to recommend this book to a friend who has some of the same symptoms as the author did.

Enlightening.

After reading the Reactive Hypoglycemia Cookbook, the next thing I do is to look for a supplemental book. Don't get me wrong, the cookbook is great, but it's a cookbook. I didn't know that there's a source book from the same author so when I saw it, I purchased it at once.

I have read a few books about hypoglycemia but I find this one easy to understand. The author used terms normal people can easily comprehend. The first part of the book's what kept me reading and reading. It describes what a person has to endure even before getting diagnosed.

Yes, some information is already found in the cookbook. But I guess it is just necessary to include all these because having a copy of the source book does not mean you also got the cookbook, right?

If you are a hypoglycemic, or experiencing some symptoms pointing to the condition, this book will definitely guide you through.

In my kindergarten class, part of our morning routine is a question of the day. This was going great until I realized that most children were simply answering the same way as their close friends. I used this book to introduce the idea that we all have our own opinions and that not everyone agrees. More importantly... that it's okay to disagree. I can easily see myself using this as a mentor text when we move into opinion writing later on in the year. Great book!!
