Like William Carlos Williams' Paterson

A deeply personal poetic journey. DeLafe experiments with various forms, and as the poems are in chronological order, we can follow the development of both the man and the artist. Like William Carlos Williams' Paterson, DeLafe's Elizabeth is is one of the countless small, gritty, post-industrial cities which comprise what is commonly called the Rust Belt. While they lack the cachet, glamour, and famous landmarks of their big sisters, they were the industrial heart of the nation for over a century and comprise a far more authentic urban experience -- which of course heavily colors the attitude and art of those born and raised in them. You'll find plenty of variety here. Snippets of of introspection and intimacy sharing space with big picture social commentary as well as more abstract mood pieces and musings. If you're looking for "a unique urban voice", particularly one of the Millennial Generation (and from the frequency I come across that term, I imagine that is exactly what a lot of people are seeking) then look no further.

I'm halfway through this book and I already love it. I was impressed by the introduction

I'm halfway through this book and I already love it. I was impressed by the introduction, as it was VERY relatable and well-written, and that's not even the "meat" of the book. I'm impressed by the collection of poems as well, because of the wide range of topics(there are poems about personal strife, matters of love, and political/social discourse, things anyone can relate to). I've even started marking the poems I like the best.

Poetry That Lives Up to Its Title!

This sensitive and bright young man shares the metaphysical challenges of his generation through the medium of mystic poetry. He is deep and subtle in expression as he feels his way through the good, bad, and the ugly his generation has been forced to contend with. The "boomers" have left an environmental, economic, and social nightmare for their children to contend with and Daniel is one of those children. He has expertly woven his knowledge of this into a collection of poetry that is emblematic of the no-win scenario his generation was handed. The inevitable decline of America leaves them with only two choices, a hard landing or a soft one, but land they must. Daniel is well aware of this and he has expressed this beautifully in the poetry contained here. This collection is a treasure for all ages.
